Sabino D’Argenio
Sabino D’Argenio (b. 1973) is a contemporary artist based in Chiasso, Switzerland, working across sculpture, video, animation, site-specific installation and new media. Classically trained as a sculptor at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, his practice moves from drawing and conceptual sculpture toward interactive technologies — drawing on anthropology and sociology to explore movement, suspension, the city as space, and social dynamics.
He represented Italy at the Media City Seoul Biennale (Seoul Museum of Art, 2002) and at Rendez-vous 2007, produced by the École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon, the Institut d’art contemporain and the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, in conjunction with the Lyon Biennale. In 2007 he was artist-in-residence at Moly-Sabata, Fondation Albert Gleizes, invited by curator Marie de Brugerolle. His work has been exhibited across Italy, France, Austria, the UK and South Korea, and reviewed in Le Monde, La Croix and Sud Ouest. He continues to live and work in Chiasso.
My work explores the visual and sonic representation of the contemporary.
